Buying & Reserving Goats
This FAQ is designed to answer common questions about buying and reserving a goat from our farm, including how our wait list works, when deposits are required, pricing, communication, and what to expect throughout the process. It’s intended to help you decide whether our program is a good fit and to clarify expectations before you join the wait list or move forward with a reservation.

GETTING STARTED
How do I get started
The first step is to complete our Goat Kid Wait List & Interest Form. Submitting the form is free and carries no obligation. It simply lets us know what you’re looking for so we can contact you if kids are born that may be a good match.
Does submitting the wait list form reserve a goat?
No. The wait list form is for interest only. Reservations are only placed after kids are born and you decide to move forward with a specific kid.
How far in advance should I join the wait list?
We recommend joining the wait list as early as possible, ideally before kidding season begins. Many kids are reserved shortly after they are born, and joining early helps ensure you’re considered when availability matches what you’re looking for.
Is joining the wait list a guarantee that I’ll get a kid?
No. Joining the wait list lets us know what you’re interested in, but it does not guarantee availability. Kid availability depends on the number of kids born, their sex, and how closely they match existing requests.
Can I change my preferences after submitting the wait list form?
Yes. Preferences can be updated as long as you let us know. We understand that plans and priorities can change, and keeping your information current helps us better match you with available kids.
How do I reserve a kid?
Once kids are born, we contact our wait list whose preferences align with available kids. If you choose to move forward, a non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a specific kid. Paid reservations take priority over the free wait list. Any remaining kids may be listed publicly as available.
When do I need to make a deposit?
Deposits are only requested after kids are born and availability is confirmed. If you choose to reserve a specific kid at that time, a non-refundable deposit is required to hold that animal.
COMMUNICATION & AVAILABILITY
How will I be notified when a kid is available?
When kids become available, we contact families on the wait list in the order requests are received whose preferences are a good match. Communication is handled primarily via email, with text messaging used when helpful or time-sensitive.
Please be sure to monitor the contact information you provide during kidding season. If we don’t hear back within three (3) days, we will move on to the next person on the wait list so the process can continue fairly and efficiently.
Do you have kids available now?
Occasionally, we may have unreserved kids listed on our Available Now page. These kids are offered on a first-come basis and do not require a deposit. Payment is due in full at pickup.
Availability can change quickly, and we are unable to hold Available Now kids without payment.
PRICING & SELECTION
How much do your goats cost?
Our pricing is outlined on the Reservations page. Listed prices reflect starting prices. Final pricing may vary based on individual traits and genetics/pedigree. Kids with blue eyes, moonspots, or polled genetics may be priced higher.
When is final pricing determined?
Final pricing is determined after kids are born and is based on individual traits as well as genetics and pedigree. Pricing is confirmed before a reservation is finalized.
Are prices negotiable?
No. Our pricing reflects the time, care, and resources that go into raising our goats, as well as individual traits and genetics. Prices are set accordingly and are not negotiable.
Why do intact males (bucklings) cost more than wethers?
Intact males have breeding potential, which carries additional value and responsibility. Pricing reflects that potential and helps ensure bucklings are placed intentionally. Wethers are priced lower as they are intended strictly as companions or pets.
Can I purchase just one goat?
Goats are herd animals and must live with other goats. If you do not already own goats, we require that kids be purchased in pairs.
REGISTRATION & HEALTH
Are your goats registered?
All of our Saanen and Nigerian Dwarf breeding stock is ADGA registered, and kids from these breedings will come with the appropriate registration paperwork once buyer information is provided.
We do occasionally have unregistered mixed-breed goats available. These goats are sold as pet-only and are not registerable.
Wethers do not include registration paperwork by default. Registration for a wether may be available by request and must be discussed and arranged prior to pickup. Any associated registration and transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
Do you vaccinate your goats?
Yes. Our adult goats are maintained on a consistent vaccination and herd health program.
We are happy to administer age-appropriate vaccinations prior to pickup at the buyer’s request, or provide guidance for continuing vaccinations after purchase if a kid is too young at the time they go home. Health information and records are provided prior to or at pickup so you can continue care with your veterinarian.
Do you guarantee color, eye color, or polled status?
No. While we can note expected traits and do our best to be accurate, we cannot guarantee that kids with specific traits will be available until after they are born.
What is included with the purchase of a kid?
Each kid leaves our farm healthy and well-started, with age-appropriate care completed prior to pickup. Any included registration paperwork, disbudding status, polled status, or wethering details will be clearly communicated for each individual kid.
PICKUP & POLICIES
When can my kid come home?
We prefer to dam raise kids when possible, as this supports strong health and development. Most kids are weaned and ready to go home between 8–12 weeks of age, depending on the individual kid.
In some circumstances, we may have bottle babies available. If this is something you’re interested in, please let us know in advance. Bottle babies require a significant time commitment and consistent care.
If a kid is being sold with an adult doe, pickup timing may differ and will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Do you ever have adult goats available?
Occasionally, we may offer adult goats, including does, bucks, or does with kids. Availability is limited and depends on herd needs and timing. Details will be shared directly with interested buyers when adult goats are available.
Do you allow farm visits?
For biosecurity reasons, farm visits are limited to customer pickups only. We do not offer tours or pre-reservation visits.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Deposits are non-refundable unless we are unable to fulfill the reservation placed. Additional details are outlined on our Sales Policies page.
Can I return a goat to you later?
Due to biosecurity considerations, we are generally unable to accept returns. We are always happy to discuss specific circumstances and help guide buyers in re-homing if circumstances change.
